A yoga package of nine days is conducted for participants who are interested in improving their quality of life through Yoga. The sessions are like nine spiritual Navarathanasas ornamented on a ring. Dr. Yogi Deavaraj, a prolific Yogic Acharya, who conducts the workshop with his unique style captivates the participants and leads them in an experience that is at once enthralling and enthusing. Every participant is made to realize that AtmaDharshana Yoga (ADY) is an ‘’ Experimental and Experiential Science.’’ Unless practiced and comprehended by just theory and discussions. Continuous practice to improve and excel in one’s life is the underlying theme of Yoga sessions conducted by Dr. Yogi Devaraj.
Participants are made to understand the concept that ‘’you are not the body and Body is yours ‘throughout the sessions and this is brought home by working on their control of food, mind, and body. The topics of discussion are the relationships of human beings with one other in the everyday and ordinary world. The relationships you are born with and the ones you acquire through friendships and marriage are discussed. Apart from these relationships, there is a very important relationship like Unknown, who matters in one’s life and without being known, with Guru and Shishya (Master and the Disciple), in addition to one’s Self or Antaryami, to understand the eternal, indestructible and the best possible relationship for any human to have.
It gives immense pleasure to pen down the foreword of the International Conference on Yoga, Ayurveda, and Spirituality (ICYAS) 2013. For, when we set out, we never realized that the ICYAS 2013 would achieve the scale and magnitude of this order, attracting national and international attention. The onus of elevating this event to the next level rests on our parents, who have worked tirelessly to make the event a grand success. As always, it is a tradition to bring out a Souvenir on a mega event on this scale, and we the organizers of ICYAS 2013 deemed it fit to bring out a Souvenir to mark the event, a trendsetting and pioneering initiative for the rest of our community members. We aptly chose an amalgamation of Yoga, Ayurveda, and Spirituality as the theme of this year’s conference considering what is happening in the society and around us. It is evident that a greed-ridden society is losing moral values and ethics, thereby contributing to a fall in the standards of humanity. It becomes imperative under such circumstances to steer society in the right direction to restore the honor, pride, and ethical values of the human race. People are in a hurry to accumulate wealth, which is leading to plenty of problems for the country. While the rich continue to flourish, the poor are getting marginalized. Therefore, the need of the hour is to Restore equality in society, remove caste barriers, eliminate prejudices and create a non-discriminate society that will work for the benefit of the country and the whole world. Today, violence, terrorism, and wars have become the order of the day, making it nigh impossible to co-exist peacefully going forward. The world is in dire need of peace and cannot be promoted by discovering inner peace in humanity. The ICYAS 2013 is primarily aimed at helping people rediscover this inner peace by aggressively practicing Yoga, Ayurveda, and Spirituality and deed.
It is a matter of happiness to note that the RashtraYajna started by ShriDevaraj from Kanyakumari to New Delhi to spread awareness among Youngsters of India about the benefits of Interlinking Rivers/ tanks/mind, reached New Delhi on the eve of Independence Day, During this long journey he has reached out of the students of several educational institutions to inform and educate them about his mission.
I am glad to know that ShriDevaraj and his colleagues have undertaken an arduous journey on foot to propagate the idea of Interlinking Indian Rivers. In this 3000 Km long Pad –Yathra from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu to the capital Delhi, ShriDevaraj has effectively created awareness about the need to share the waters of our rivers. Linking rivers is one possible solution, though not an easy one. It will take sustained efforts of the central and state governments, citizens, engineers, and advocacy groups to link that the one hold led by Shri. Devaraja for a realizing this dream.
One of the major initiatives undertaken by the NDA Government headed by Shri A.B. Vajpayee was a scheme to interlink major rivers of the country. The NDA Government had appointed a task force headed by Shri Suresh Prabhu to pursue the matter. This task force had interacted with several states and had done a lot of groundwork in this regard.
I am happy to know that ShriDev Raj of Bangalore accompanied by half a dozen of his colleagues has undertaken a Padayatra from Kanyakumari to New Delhi to mobilize this opinion in Support of India.
All-Karnataka State Level Naturopathy and Yoga Conference conducted on 14th and 15th February 2009 at JnanaDeepikaBhargavi High School 8th main road, Judicial Layout, Allalasandra, Bengaluru 560065.
‘Health for all ‘is the main purpose of this conference. The philosophy of Naturopathy and Yoga has addressed itself pervasively to the eternal question as to why men, despite their disinclination to do so, commit acts of sin. The Bhagavadgita answer this question by attributing such behaviors to the influence of; 'Kama’ and ‘Krodha’ which are the manifestations of Rajyoguna. Yoga has curative answers to these afflictions of the human spirit. These eternal and irresolvable issues of man’s spiritual quest cannot be solved within the limited range of the intellect. Intellect, however otherwise sharp will remain self–stultifying unless it has a broader moral vision and a proper perspective of means and ends. Knowledge alone cannot also be a free guide because, without a corresponding development of spiritual wisdom, knowledge by itself can be a source of sorrow. Disaster can ‘ride on the back of a sunbeam of science’. The non-physical and subconscious dimensions of human personality have received great attention from our ancient wise men. The system of yoga and naturopathy evolved to control the conflicts and disturbances arising out of the non-sattvicsanskaras. The neuro-hormonal, neuro-endocrinal, and neuro-humoral changes that take place with constant practice of yoga can change the negative substantiated centers of peace and tranquility. Naturopathy and Yoga, therefore, are the civilized man’s armory of protection against the iconoclastic winds of violence and hatred that are sweeping all over. A new human civilization based on the moral absolutes of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness is possible only through this ancient wisdom of India.
